After the economic and financial crisis on 2008 is clear, that indicators of Sillamäe unemployment and average salary are improved. Thus, last three years have a stable decline of the number of unemployed in the city.

The level of wages is not on the county of level or national average. Last year's average gross salary was slightly above average in Ida-Viru County, but the overall trend is an increase of wages, as well as throughout Estonia.
